Well I made a website in flash, it was nice but somebody said I shouldn’t make it all in flash. So what’s the best way to build a website in dreamweaver? I want to upload videos and pictures, this is a portfolio website. Any tutorials please? thank you.

Flash and lots of flash can make the website load slowly, use flash in moderation, do you see my website , its only punctuated the webpage ( here and there)
Flash websites are not very search engine friendly. Its important that search engines like Google , love your web page and you be ranked higher in search results.
You should start in adobe fireworks to make photo albums, has an amazing utility, drop it into dreamweaver and import some flash files.
Upload to 110mb.com after a free registration for life. It wont allow videos i think.

use linux hosting ideally- secure and faster.
www.godaddy.com will give u really cheap domain names. >. info (like .com) sites with go daddy are very cheap! My website is linked to tutvid and helpvid, (under useful links) check it, both sites contain lots of tutorials

I want to learn how to upload files (i.e. Word, PDF) onto my website. I am using Adobe Dreamweaver CS3.

I wish I knew the answer to that question, since I am also hoping to learn about Dreamweaver and web design.

I’m sure you can’t simply be taught in a few sentences on here, so perhaps you should start by reading the help files, and watching a whole bunch of the tutorials that are available on youtube and all over the place.

I will be buying a book or two, and spending countless hours reading and watching tutorials, just like I had to do for learning how to use Adobe’s Photoshop.

I want to allow visitors to be able to upload pictures to my website. My site was created by hand coding. Is there some html code that I would need to add to my code . I would also like to set some of my pages to be password protected how can I accomplish this.

Sounds like your site is “flat” to upload images you need to use dynamic code. You can code this yourself but it will take some learning.

Usually it’s done with php and a database with HTML and css for presentation.

However you could also use an open source script such as gallery2 coppermine or (more suited to your application) wordpress
