I would look at godaddy or hostgator for hosting they are cheap and fast servers and If you want to become pro blogger, you need to get steady heavy traffic, you should consider coaching from a problogger, like shoemoney, yaro starak, ewinchia, etc. Learn from the master to become a master. There’s a lot to learn to become a succesful blogger.

Some relatives want me to build a website for their business and i have agreed to go for it providing lot of functionality and not just static HTML pages. But where should i start? They don’t know the exact requirements and i don’t either. HOw should i start gathering requirements. I am blanked out?

you should start with requirements before seriously persuing any development project, but until you decide on them, start familiarizing yourself with web programming languages such as ASP, PHP or ASP.NET if you aren’t already, as well as web sites of your relatives’ competitors.
Decide on features, what is on the must have list vs the “wish” list. Prioritize the features, group them into “releases”, and come up with a time frame for each release, then get to coding. Remember to get feedback along the way.

If if your serious about getting traffic to your site that requires a bit of work applying to google and the rest wont on it’s own be enough. You should be building backlinks to other site’s as well as Seo work on your site but it wont happen overnight, i.e http://terryhouseman.com/ start getting your url out there

I use GoDaddy.com for everything. They are the largest Domain Registrar & their Website Tonight & Quick Shopping Cart features are some of the simplest to use & the most inexpensive to maintain.
If you don’t want to set it up yourself, they have some great support staff.

PS. For the “padlock” you’ll need to purchase an SSL Certificate thru them as well.

*Edit: GoDaddy is cheap for hosting also, I pay <$ 5/month for 10GB/Storage & 300GB/Transfers. Add what I mentioned above & they can't be beat.

I build other social networking from websites like ning before,
And I had a great amount of members and great traffic.

Hello.

Well basically, you don’t really have to contact somebody, but personally, I suggest you to do.

So to start up the netoworking, you will need to cade they system. It is not really hard, personally I could make one, just lazy to do so :p

You will need to use the following languages:

html
css
php
sql
javascript
xml (quite optional)
ajax (optional but useful. it is basically javascript + xml)

With these languages you will basically design it and put the whole system to work. However, there are already some huge networks out ther such as MySpace, hi5, bebo etc.. Now to make your network to stand out there, you need to promote it. Start by contacting all of your friends to sign up, then they will tell their friends and so on. Pay some money to put your net on Google AdSense.

Also, sometihng that you might have a problem with is webspace. See, in social netoworks, people can upload their images, videos and music. And using a normal webhost (even at their best plan) won’t provide you with unlimited webspace. For that, I suggest you to contact a few local companies and tell them about your social netowork then offer them to advertise them in exchange for money. Now with that money, buy a delicated server. Just one would be ok for staerting up, but if you go big, you will of course have to buy a new one and so on.
