Someone mentioned it in a business meeting and I think its part of Google or something but it’s used by lots of professional websites. Any idea what it could be? I know it tracks the demographics like age, sex, location etc of those that visit your web page.

My web hosting package provides with that information and IP addresses and total number of visitors and total number of times each visited. Google analytics could not even hold a candle to what our awstats does. You have to be a account holder and have a URL hosted at Vodahost to be able to access it. Does your site allow you access to your servers control panel (web Based)? If so see if your servers offer something similar

I have a small online store and would like to have a better website building program. I currently us Yahoo Sitebuilder but feel limited. What program is good for my online store and what is the easiest? I’m better with teh “drag and drop” and not so good at coding.

Visual Site Designer is awesome for noobs/beginners. Its drag and drop, but yet can do complex functions at the same time! http://www.coffeecup.com/designer/

How do you retrieve data from websites for a program?

Would I be able to do this in Java? I want to retrieve NFL statistics from a website, how would I be able to do that? Any links would be appreciated.

well first you need to learn networking in Java then look at RFC 2616 for HTTP 1.1 Requests and stuff for how to connect to webservers and download the pages. After you have all of that down, you can start parsing the content of the website and perform any further actions you need. It is actually much simpler than it sounds. The main thing you need to find in the 100 pgs of RFC2616 is the GET request (just use Ctrl+F and search for it) and then thats about it… Hope this helps!

Elance is also not bad but Elance is more focused at projects on writing. They do have programmers but relatively lesser.

I need something that will give me the option to rate on a number scale or something very similar. i.e. 1-5…percentage etc. Thank you all. Anything that is good for a MAC website or Joomla, etc, is great! I will have about 30 categories that I would like to have visitors rate on a scale so something of a nice size would be great!

If you have a trial version of google adwords or any other advertising product, you could use that to increase traffic.

Otherwise, you’ll need to choose your keywords (meta tags) so that your website appears higher on google (and other search engine) search results.

I am trying to fing a way to generate more traffic to my affiliate website. I cannot use traffic exchange systems that require you to copy-paste a code on the webside. What other options for traffic generation systems/software do I have?

Check out an article service called Free Traffic System (not my business). It allows you to setup versions of the same article, and then they distribute it for you for free to hundreds of blogs. There is a free membership level and it does work to get you some links for your site.
