The 12 year old i heard about was before Bieber’s time. She had been sharing on one of those limewire type networks. Since with those programs you can normally see what other files the person has to offer, they probably just scan her list, record it, download a couple songs to prove that she is indeed spreading copyrighted material, all making a case against her.

Afaik the mpaa would hire tech’s to gather the information, then bring the case to court.

The value they place on the songs is very exaggerated to me, implying that each song is worth x, y people could have downloaded it from her, so she owes the cd price many times over, per song. I couldn’t possibly imagine someone’s playlist reaching a value higher than most people’s homes. I understand that if you rate the music at 10-15 songs being equal to $ 15 and a movie at $ 15-20, then it could easily reach that, but I think it says more about the inflated price of said media, than it does about the problem of piracy. ie, most movies/music suck, so they’re hamstringing you if you actually buy some of that crap.

If i were ever slapped with one of these ridiculous fines, I would move to a commune where I don’t really make any money, try seeing a penny from me.

I’m not sure how they choose who they’re going to prosecute, it’s probably based on the amount of activity they can prove.

You should get the Google Analytics code from your Google Analytics account and insert it in the index.php on a normal php website and in header.php in the Blog template right before the body tag. Then test it in the Google Analytics Account in the edit button to see if it has tracked the code.
